Missed-call scam checks

Missed call from an unknown country code? Check before calling back

Unknown international missed calls can be harmless, but scammers also use one-ring calls, WhatsApp bait, fake support numbers, and urgent callbacks to pull people into payment or identity scams.

Before calling back

Search the full number with the plus sign and country code, then search any WhatsApp name, message text, company name, or payment number connected to it.

Do not return repeated missed calls from unknown international numbers if the caller has not left a clear, verifiable reason. Use official contacts for banks, delivery firms, jobs, or government services.

Warning signs

Be careful if the caller asks for M-PESA payments, airtime, loan fees, job processing fees, verification codes, ID photos, or remote access to your phone.

If the number claims to be from support, immigration, police, a courier, or a recruiter, end the call and contact the organization through an independently verified channel.

Common questions

Is every missed call from a foreign country code a scam?

No. But unknown international calls deserve extra caution, especially when they lead to payment requests, OTP requests, WhatsApp pressure, or fake support claims.

Can I report an international number?

Yes. Report the full number with country code and safe context so other users can search it before calling back or paying.
